About Integrative Mental Health

Integrative Mental Health care is a model that utilizes the best of conventional and adjunctive mental health care approaches to support mental wellness holistically. This approach recognizes that mental health does not exist in isolation, but is a component of a whole person’s wellbeing, alongside physical, emotional and spiritual health, as well as social and environmental context. Often when conventional mental health care treatments, such as psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, are used alone, patients only find partial benefit. When the whole person is treated, and tools such as nutrition, therapeutic movement and mindfulness are used alongside conventional therapies, deeper healing can be achieved.

When it comes to mental health, every person has unique needs. Sometimes medication is needed, sometimes alternatives are better. And often medications work best when combined adjunctive therapies, maximizing benefit and minimizing side-effects. My goal is to work with patients to develop individualized treatment plans, guiding them towards overall balance. To help my patients with mental-emotional issues, I draw from a diverse toolkit, including psychopharmacology, botanical medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, lifestyle counseling, motivational interviewing, somatic therapies and mindfulness techniques. I acknowledge that mental health care often requires a team-based approach, so when complex psychopharmacological prescribing or specialized psychotherapy is required, I can make the appropriate referrals.
